The Mercury Mind in Capricorn is practicial, logical, and when healthy is focused on getting the best results from their decisions and actions for the least amount of effort. Another way to say this is, when healthy, Mercury in Capricorn loves to be so efficient in their thinking it translates into effective and super efficient doing that gets the best results or benefit.

The Capricorn mind tends to process information at a slower pace than say Mercury in Aquarius (or another air sign). Plus, the Capricorn mind values rational, logical steps in communication and often needs additional time to process new ideas and ways of looking at life.

Any earth Mercury, especially Capricorn, usually has an amazing memory for details and events that happened a long time ago unlike the fire or air signs that move at the speed of light and may not remember as many details if they remember any details at all.

Historians tend to be linked with the Capricorn archetype in some way and/or they have a strong Saturn signature connecting with the history of the Earth and human history though not always accurately recounted by the conquerors or those in power.

It has been fascinating to witness all the false histories being uncovered now as Pluto in Capricorn shines a light on what has been hidden and/or denied.

Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn

This is a time for deepening understanding and knowing around the current structures of reality including what works and what doesn’t work. This is a time for reassessing, reevaluating, and recreating strategies for needed changes once Mercury goes direct.

This is a great time for recommitting to taking responsibility for your experience, your health, your work, your relationships, your living environment and the planet. It is a time for completing projects that have been started, but not such a great for starting something new especially if the endeavor operates in a more left brain, linear, rational reality. Right brain artistic intuitive activities are favored now.

And finally it is really helpful to make sure your computer and other data is securely backed up and stored safely where it can be retrieved if needed. You never know if this is the Mercury Retrograde that will trigger a personal computer crash. Certainly it does not happen for everyone every time. However, computer crashes during Mercury Retrograde are consistently more prevalent so it’s a good idea to take extra precautions.

Pluto In Capricorn

Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008. In 2020 Jupiter and Saturn were also in Capricorn and our world began a massive restructuring that is still ongoing.

We are in a time of creating a new more efficient physical reality that is effective and sustainable, nurturing and kind. In essence, this about how to do less and accomplish more in benewficial ways that serve now and the furture generations.

Unfortunately part of what our current culture has created is what I call the Doing Addiction. There seems to be a mistaken belief that the more we do, the more we accomplish and achieve, then the more value and significance we have. When we are driven by the Doing Addiction it can interfere with healthy and deeply fulfilling connections with family, friends and community.

The Capricorn mysteries remind us it is vital to cultivate our awareness around how we may be Doing Addicted so we can change it.

Doing (taking action) is a natural part of life similar to the necessity for eating. However, both doing and eating can also become an addiction.

An addiction is anything that we do to excess in ways that are harmful to our health and well-being. There are obvious addictions such as drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc… Most of us might recognize a Doing Addiction as someone who is a work-a-holic. However, the Doing Addiction often shows up in subtle ways that are more challenging to spot.

For example, the most philanthropic work a person might engage in doing, may be driven by a Doing Addiction as a way to avoid feelings or having a personal life.

Underlying the Doing Addiction are three primary fears.

  • Fear of not having enough
  • Fear of not being good enough (feeling of having to prove yourself)
  • Fear of Facing your Fears and having to really Feel your Feelings…
