What is an Out of Bounds Planet?

Out of Bounds Planets are traveling outside the path of the Sun. Said another way, this has to do with the planet moving beyond the maximum possibility of where the Sun can be seen rising or setting along the horizon.

In this case whenever a planet moves beyond 23 degrees and 29 minutes it is considered to be outside the boundary or limits of the most Northern or Southern reach of the Sun.

This means the planet or Moon is beyond the degrees of where the Sun can rise or set either due East or due West depending on the season and what hemisphere you are located in at any given time. Hence, why it is seen to be beyond the bounds of ordinary reality.

It helps to know that Out of Bounds planets only occur in the signs of late Gemini and early Cancer or late Sagittarius and early Capricorn because these are closest to the Solstice points where the Sun is at its maximum declination and does not go beyond those degrees in our lifetime. So that is why not everyone with planets in these signs will have an Out of Bounds signature. I personally have Moon in Sagittarius and it is NOT Out of Bounds.

Note: The Moon has a whole other thing happening with its Out of Bounds expression that fits into the 19 years Moon cycles. I will share more about this in a future article.

If you would like to determine your own Out of Bounds Plantes go to astro.com and click on Free Horsocopes.

Then click on Extended Chart Selection to get your natal chart.

Once you have your natal chart then click on Additional Tables to find the declination of any planets you have in late Gemini/early Cancer or late Sagittarius/early Capricorn to see if they are beyond the 23 degrees and 29 minutes North or South declination that the Sun reaches when it is approaching, with or just past a Solstice point.

The Rebel and/or Wild Card
When planets reach beyond the boundaries of the Sun they are sometimes experienced as rebel energies, outside the status quo, a wild card factor, that may create varying levels of chaos* designed to create a new sense of the world.

When a planet is Out of Bounds (OOB) it is a great time to consider new ways of perceiving reality that are beyond what may have been previously imagined. It is a time to allow your imagination to run wild and imagine any ensuing chaos* is creating new perceptions that are liberating and fun.

Remember during these Out of Bounds times it is a great time to think and ACT outside the box, to be open to new possibilities that may not have been imagined before and to create possibilities that go beyond whatever is considered normal or usual or ordinary.

If you are attached to practical, predictable, linear processes you may be disappointed during this more wildly chaotic time. If you can roll with whatever is happening then liberation and freedom from the norm may be the result.

Out of Bounds Natal Planets
Planets can only go out of bounds when they are in late Sagittarius and early Capricorn or late Gemini to early Cancer. Not everyone with planets in these signs will have that planet beyond the boundaries of the Sun. The only way to know for sure is to consult a declination table or some astrology programs (Solar Fire for example) have that information. Or astro.com as mentioned above.

Personally, I have Mars at 03 Capricorn 33 but it is only 10 minutes outside the boundaries of the Sun – not even a quarter of a degree. The further Out of Bounds a planet is the more it is likely to behave in a Wild Card kind of way during the time the planet is Out of Bounds (beyond the boundaries of our ordinary reality).

If a person is born with an Out of Bounds planet they are less likely to conform to collective reality or the current rules of the game of life.

For example, when I was born Mars was only Out of Bounds for about 3 weeks starting on February 23, 1956 and ending on March 15, 1956. Mars was barely Out of Bounds when I was born but what I notice is as expected my Mars in Capricorn gets a lot done. However, what I do is definitely not mainstream.

I have been creating monthly Celestial Timings since 1996. This offering was one of the first astrology/astronomy online newsletters and is an example of how my Mars in Capricorn has been expressing beyond the norm of conventional reality for the last 25 years and really my whole life but that is another story for another time.

It can be helpful to track the times when these Inner planets are Out of Bounds as listed below. I will also be adding the Lunar Standstill Out of Bounds Dates already happening in 2021 but reaching its maximum in 2025.

*Out of Chaos comes Order, or out of Chaos comes the World, or Order comes from Chaos, is a concept or awareness that dates back to at least ancient Greece. Some believe Nietzsche originated this concept others believe Ordo Ab Chao (Order From Chaos) is from Freemasonry.

Zarathustra an ancient Persian Prophet also known as Zoroaster is credited with saying “I say unto you: one must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. I say unto you: you still have chaos in yourselves. Alas, the time is coming when man will no longer give birth to a star. Alas, the time of the most despicable man is coming, he that is no longer able to despise himself. Behold, I show you the last man.”

Chaos was originally defined as empty space not the definitions we have today including: bedlam, mayhem, madness, anarchy, pandemonium, turmoil, utter disorder and so on.

The Greek poet Hesiod, (750-650 BC) wrote that chaos is the first thing that ever existed in his poem Theogony (describing the birth of the gods) suggesting chaos is the origin of everything, the creation of the universe, the big bang, the gap separating Heaven from Earth, and that chaos went on to give us the first Greek gods, the primordial deities. More HERE

The definition of Chaos with Ovid (a Roman poet writing in 8 AD) declaring in his Magnum Opus  Metamorphoses that chaos was a disorganized mass NOT a void, a chasm, or empty space.

When we consider Chaos was originally considered to be the void or empty space before creation came into being then Ovid came up with a new description and Nietzsche (15 October 1844 – 25 August 1900) a German philosopher, cultural critic, composer, poet, writer, and philologist expanded on that idea saying: “A finite mind cannot fully capture the order of Life. It transcends our best attempts to make it concrete. Does that mean order is unreal or imagined? If one looks at Nature, for example, it is damned near indestructible because it finds its way around limitations to a new order.”

In that sense, order then is imperfectly captured by our limited perceptions and beliefs. There is always something beyond the order we can conceptualize.

So what is order of out chaos? Perhaps the physics of superconductors can give us clues and it is one of my favorite things to explore. So be sure to stay tune for more – meanwhile check out this article on a new discovery about super conductors.
