Perigee Full Moons

We begin 2018 with a Perigee Full Moon (meaning its closest to the Earth so the Moon appears bigger as it rises) on January 1 and also at the end of January is a second Perigee Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse. The image to the right gives a sense of how much bigger a Perigee Full Moon is compared to a regular Full Moon.

Also a Perigee Full Moon (now called a Super Moon by many) has a powerful impact on Tides, Weather and our Intentions. It is a fairly well known experience by many who work in hospitals that more babies are born around a Full Moon than any other time of the month. Three of my four children were born near a Full Moon including my twins who were born 20 minutes before an exact Full Moon. There are also more accidents that occur around that time as well due to the power of the Full Moon to amplify what we are feeling.

When a Perigee Full Moon and a Total Lunar Eclipse occur together I like to call that a Mega Moon.

How Does the Perigee Full Moon Affect the Beginning of 2018?
Lunacy is connected to the intensity of feelings often associated with a Full Moon – so a Perigee Full Moon is amplifying that affect. Are opportunity is to connect with these amplified energies through attention and intention to not only be informed by the Perigee Full Moon affect but to also help inform the mysteries through our intention and how we are working with these energies as we set the vibrational field for 2018.

The New Year is typically a time when many of us set our intentions for the year and beyond. 2018 pacts a powerful energy for doing this with the Perigee Full Moon on January 1 and then followed by the Perigee Total Lunar Eclipse on January 31.

Total Lunar Eclipses accelerate the energy of our intention as it compresses the monthly Moon cycle that normally takes 29.5 days to go from Full Moon to Full Moon into 3 to 5 hours. This Perigee Total Lunar Eclipse is visible in north western South America, throughout most of western North America, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, eastern Africa, Eastern Europe, the Pacific ocean and the Indian Ocean.

If you happen to be in the path of the eclipse watching it is a great way to ceremonially engage it. I have also found watching it with others increases the potential affect and the sense of wonder and magic that accompanies a Lunar Eclipse. If you are living somewhere the Moon is not visible you can always tune into through intention and meditation to connect with the power of this Timing.

Here is to 2018 bringing us all Greater Magic and Miracles than what we can currently imagine! Happy New Year…

There are 13 Full Moons in the Calendar Year of 2018. Next time this happens will be 2020. In 2018 there are 2 Full Moons in January with No Full Moon in February  and Two Full Moons March 1 and 31. See Understanding the Blue Moon to see why this is significant.

  1. Hello dear Cayelin,

I am wondering if you have ever considered using the term “wasband” for your “then husband?”

I appreciate that you do not refer to him as your ex.

    Blessings to you,

    • Joyful Blessings Joyce,
I am familiar with the term wasband but for some reason haven’t felt inspired to use it? Not sure why exactly as I do appreciate it as a reference. Maybe its my rebel nature to say it differently? And also it makes more sense to me in the context I am sharing to refer to him as my then husband as he wasn’t yet my wasband! 🙂

  2. Dear Cayelin,
I feel so fortunate to have met you and to be in our BraveHeart sisterhood together.
I’m enjoying the Summit immensely and your newsletter is adding to my deeper dive into the astronomical life. You have introduced me to Shamanic Astrology where I am discovering a symbiotic resonance. Thank you.

My pleasure this year with the full moon was a fabulous homa and then deep meditation with a fellow gurubais. One of our teachers is Sri Yukteswar; an active participant in my life. The palpable gift I received for 2018 is Amazing Grace. Therefore, I’ve decided to ride that suggested intention along with the grandmothers’ suggestion of truth and justice.

Your meditation with the Grandmothers provided with another woman during the Summit is beautifully powerful!
I shared it in celebration of my birthday on the new moon of 12.17.2017 with a group of dear sisters. (I enjoy working with new moons.) My birthday was on Christmas Eve so the meditation set the tone. We continued the journey by writing letters to ourselves about insights received from our grandmothers and set intentions for 2018. These letters will be mailed out by me throughout the year to enjoy as we journey.

    Thank you very much.
    I love us!💖

    • Thank you Beautiful Brenda for this wonderful Feedback. You inspired me to get out my Sri Yukteswar book about a month ago. I started to read it again and then got side tracked so am getting inspired to do that again. Might be time to revisit Yogananda’s book too! I read it over 40 years ago when I was at Maharishi International University (renamed now) in Fairfield Iowa.

Happy Belated Birthday and so happy the Grandmother’s meditation was inspiring. I love the letter writing process. It seems like eons since I did something like that and you are inspiring me around that too! Woohoo! I love us too!
